Michelette! I am so excited to give you the BIG why behind the symptoms. Of course, the answers are in our minerals and the state of our metabolism! This is amazing. I believe that on the mineral level we HAVE to get your calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium UP and balanced. We need to get copper out of your liver so the iron can begin to circulate and recycle itself in your body. So that thyroid hormones are able to penetrate the cell wall. So you FEEL great and healthy!
How do we do that?
Your prescription for the next 3-4 months is REST! Lots of it. Your adrenals are super exhausted and making them work hard(er) is like forcing a person that did not sleep for a week to drink more coffee instead of offering them to take a good night sleep.

Copper toxicity

Our bodies need a certain amount of copper to be healthy. Too little copper is harmful and can occur due to our not taking in enough copper or not absorbing it well.
On the other hand, too much copper is also harmful, which can occur by taking in too much or not detoxing it well.
Most of the copper our body takes in comes from the foods we eat. High-copper foods include shellfish, oysters, nuts, seeds, and chocolate. We can also absorb copper from our water (that we drink or even bathe in) and metal pipes and products (copper cookware). Certain medications (oral contraceptives, antacids, copper-rich multivitamins), excess estrogen (due to natural hormone levels, estrogen dominance, or exposure to man-made estrogens found in meats, plastics, and personal care products), copper IUDs, and zinc deficiency can increase our exposure.
If someone is taking in too much copper or is not detoxing it well (due to gallbladder and liver impairment or other issues such as adrenal insufficiency or zinc deficiency), copper toxicity can occur.
Many people with adrenal dysfunction have a congested liver, so that is likely one reason copper toxicity is a common root cause.
Common symptoms of copper toxicity include:
Anxiety
Fatigue
Irritability, depression, tantrums
Emotional lability, prone to rapid changes in emotional highs and lows, with exaggerated changes in mood (laughing one minute, crying or having a temper tantrum the next)
Having a racing mind
Insomnia (even with extreme fatigue)
Hair turning orange or having a reddish tint

Poor concentration

Poor wound healing

Craving high-copper foods (such as chocolate)

In general, you’ll want to eat a diet that avoids high-copper foods and includes high-zinc foods.
Zinc reduces the amount of copper your body absorbs and uses.
